VOLUNTEER SEARCHERS URGENTLY NEEDED
VOLUNTEER SEARCHERS URGENTLY NEEDED
4/4/2018 7:03:56 PM
In the early hours of February 21st. 3 year old Kadcn Young was taken from his family by the angry water of Grand River near his home in Waldemar. Ontario west of Orangeville.

Despite the efforts of thousands of volunteers over the past weeks. Kaden remains lost to the river.
Each day searcher assemble at the family home at 9am to begin the search again and to build on the areas already cleared. Unfortunately, the volunteers that attend are dwindling.

Currently. the task at hand is to conduct line searches of the area from Waldemar through to the top of Belwood Lake covering an area that stretches for more than 13 miles. On the day that Kaden was taken, the flood waters were reported to be the highest of all time since the Grand River Conservation Authority has kept record increasing the width of the river dramatically.

The task is difficult. The terrain is icy in spots, wet in others and always changing. Wooded areas are thick with debris from the flooding as well as other obstacles. The river itself is stilt moving swiftly and is potentially dangerous with shifting ice.
